This short poem was inspired by a comment about how some FileMaker developers were being elitist by not wanting to monitor and respond to the TechNet posts.
Wouldn’t it be neat
To be considered elite!
Would I beat my breast
To be better than the rest
Or would I put myself
On the upper shelf?
Oh what would I do
If somebody said to you
“Watch out over there
He doesn’t think its fair
That we all play together.
He’d much rather never
Answer a newbie’s post
Other than with the utmost
Scorn and disdain
It’s just too much of a pain
To be monitoring the list
And there’s nothing that he’d miss
If it all stopped today
The moment he went away”.
And for those that will each day
Dart headlong into the fray
Responding to the left
With intellectual heft
And to the right
Until late in the night
Mentors they will be
And monitors of the free.
Elitism will not be the curse
But it might be something worse!
But here’s my final thought
It’s something that you ought
To consider as a fact
Maybe it’s just an attack
On those who call home
With their new iPhone!
